Since 1986, Bob Remstein has been the accompanist and choir conductor for every High Holidays service at Congregation B’nai B’rith. He has played for many choir-based Shabbat services in recent years, and has been involved in other CBB concerts and events as well.

 

He began composing liturgical pieces in 1988 and has written many more since then, most of which were commissioned by Cantor Mark Childs. Three of Bob’s pieces were part of the cantor’s 1998 album, “Cycles and Symbols,” including “Mi Yitneini,” which was published by Transcontinental Music and is taught throughout the country. In 2002, he composed a complete “Sacred Service,” in honor of the temple’s 75th anniversary.

 

He is currently completing a Sermon in Song, which will be premiered at CBB on May 11th. In tems of secular music, Bob is an active keyboardist, composer, and producer. He co-leads the lounge/electronica group Supercasanova, whose music has been used on many TV shows and networks, including "Without a Trace," "Chuck," “Monday Night Football,” “Inside the NFL,” "The Guiding Light," Animal Planet, Style Network, MSNBC, and E! The group is currently producing tracks for the upcoming animated show, UMIGO. Bob arranged and produced music for the Oscar-nominated film, “Little Miss Sunshine,” scored ten DVD trivia games for SceneIt, and has performed with ensembles ranging from the Legends of Swing big-band to the Bollywood revival group, the Bombay Rhythm Connection, to the retro-lounge band Mello Cads and pop/rocker Linus of Hollywood, both of which he toured with in Japan
