An integral part of Jewish worship, Jewish culture, Jewish history, Jewish people-hood, and Jewish education, our synagogue’s music program touches each and every member of our congregation at some point in their Jewish year and lives. Led by Cantor Mark Childs , the CBB Music Program offers an eclectic mix of opportunities for those who like to listen and those who like to participate. Visit our Temple’s on-line archives to browse the breadth of musical programming offered in recent years.
Opportunities to make music at CBB include:
The Shir Chadash Adult Choir (pictured above at the 2016 Cantor’s Concert)
This group of CBB members and singers from the community meets Wednesday nights for rehearsals. In addition to monthly Shabbat services throughout the year, the choir participates in the High Holy Day services, and special musical events including our annual “Shira” concert. The choir continues to welcome new members who possess the desire to sing in a choir coupled with at least an intermediate ability to read music.
The Shir Chadash Youth Choir
Composed of religious school students from grades 2 through 6, this group of enthusiastic and energetic young musicians rehearses weekly immediately following Sunday morning religious school sessions and performs at a variety of functions throughout the year.
The Red Sea Rhythm Rockers
Our revved-up and dynamic Temple Band leads us in joyful music and singing the third Friday of every month. Led by SoulAviv’s Rob Raede (pictured right), this is the perfect opportunity for the entire family, young and old, to rock out and welcome in Shabbat!
The Cantorial Endowment Fund offsets the cost of maintaining a strong music program and a full-time cantorial presence in our congregation. The fund is half way toward its goal of $1.5 million. Please consider this fund as the recipient of a large gift or bequest to insure the continued strength of our Temple’s music program.
The Harold and Sylvia Oreskes Music Fund provides special musical programming for our congregation. Every donation to the fund brings us closer to achieving our goals of making Jewish music a regular part of our lives and souls. Please think about honoring someone special with the gift of music through a donation to this fund.
