8^th Grade (Gesher):
What You Need to Know

Dinner is back! Optional dinner at 6pm –$180 for the year.

Annual Tuition: $1,600

Gesher (Bridge) is CBB’s program, for 7th and 8th grade students. In this program, students will come of age together as they approach and experience their B’mitzvah and beyond. Gesher 8^th grade will focus on Jewish learning and group bonding while treating our students as adults in our community. If your student is still approaching B’mitzvah in their 8^th grade year, your student will continue to meet privately for B’Mitzvah preparation, as outlined on the 7^th grade Gesher page. If they are post B’mitzvah, the Wednesday night class becomes their main engagement at CBB.

For 8^th graders, the core subjects of study are:

• Leadership/Madrichim training (required for Sunday Morning Classroom Volunteering/job) with Laurie Greene
• Holocaust study
• Israel: History, Culture and Political Understanding with Rabbi Daniel Brenner

Throughout the year, students will additionally have the opportunity to participate in Jr. SBORTY social activities, plus event planning, social justice projects, and leadership roles, as they are invited into the congregation as adults who are responsible for tikkun olam – repairing the world.

NOTE: This year, 8th grade will also attend the 3^rd-8th grade retreat (January 30-February 1, 2026) as part of their leadership training course. They’ll also have their own programming and fun while they’re there, but will be responsible for some of the program planning, leading and supervision provided for the 3^rd-7th graders.
