We wanted to share with you the accomplishments and exciting future ahead for our CBB LGTBQ+ Group. With the invaluable help of our growing members, CBB clergy and staff we’ve much to be grateful for.

We began early in 2024 with meetings to help establish the parameters of our group and discussion of how we can align our objectives with the greater CBB and greater Jewish LGBTQ+ communities and friends. Our launch was at the first CBB Pride Shabbat led by Rabbi Brenner and featuring Rabbi Debi Lewis in August 2024.

This was followed by Keshet’s helping to organize and run the CBB and Keshet Pride booth at the Pacific Pride Festival at Chase Park Plaza during SB Pride Weekend.

Next, we held our super fun pool party and Havdalah service at the beautiful home of Zev Nathan and Neal Hiken

Our next event was a special Sukkot discussion led by Rabbi Belle Michael at the CBB Sukkah followed by a delicious and festive potluck dinner.

We also gathered to enjoy two wonderful LGBTQ+ films at the Santa Barbara Jewish Film Festival.

We are in the process of aligning with Hillel’s Keshet group to include younger queer friends to our activities and programs.

The planning for some great events in 2025 is underway and we’d love to have you join us to share ideas for how we can make this an exciting year of growth. We wish to enhance the Keshet experience socially, spiritually, intellectually and most of all exercising tikkun olam for the betterment of our community.

Now that we are returning home to our beautifully reimagined CBB campus, the sky’s the limit with a beautiful LGBTQ+ Jewish rainbow to help guide us. All are welcome.
