This National Make-A-Will Month, I wanted to share why Steve and I decided to include CBB in our estate plan and become members of the Children of the Covenant.

Belonging to a vibrant Jewish community has always been an important part of my life. As a young girl growing up in a conservative Chicago congregation, I developed a strong sense of Jewish identity and a pride in being Jewish.

Being a part of Congregation B’nai B’rith holds a special place in my heart. I was fortunate to marry into a family with strong connections to CBB. My in-laws, Bob z”l and Ruth Hartzman z”l, were leaders of this congregation and instrumental in the construction of our current campus.

My husband Steve was one of the first Bar Mitzvahs in the building. We were even married at CBB! Our children grew up at the temple, attending BHY, going through confirmation, and being involved in SBORTY youth group.

Legacy giving continues these vital links through the generations and it is our duty to pave the way for future generations. We all stand on the shoulders of those who came before us.

If you don’t currently have a will, consider creating one this month. And if you already have or plan to include CBB in your estate plans, click here to let us know. We’d love to welcome you into the Children of the Covenant!

Warmly,

Debbie Hartzman

PS. Please don’t hesitate to contact CBB’s Director of Development, Julia George, to discuss Children of the Covenant, CBB’s legacy giving society.
